I got this jjGeorge torch originally as a fast starter for charcoal, and it does work great for that….but use it for a bunch of other stuff. Its basically a small flame thrower that works off any small propane tank. It has a built in igniter so you can fire it up with the click of a button.
Starting charcoal: No excuses for using a propane BBQ!! This makes lighting up the correct way to cook meat super easy…..The angle of the wand allows you to place it with the flame into the base of a pile of charcoal and let it run for 2 mins….done! No need for starter or even the chimney starter I used to use. Save the electric starter wand for heating up door knobs (Home Alone reference)
Searing steak edges: If you are into the cast iron searing to finish steaks (you should be), this allows you to blast the edges of steaks while the top and bottom are searing….gets that fat nicely soft.
Starting fires in fireplaces, wood stoves or campfires: I hate the process of getting a fire going….with this, throw some kindling or paper in, blast it with this and you are done! Campfire lighting is pretty much instant.
Burning contaminants out of mountain bike disk brake pads: Strange one but if someone were to be a bit careless and get brake fluid onto the brake pads….you have very noisy brakes, blast them with this and all the contaminants burn off….no more noise.
Crème Brûlée: I don’t make it, don’t particularly love it….but this would crush it.
Grilled cheese sandwiches: You could!
Scaring small children: It makes an impressive noise when it fires up.
Anyway, cottage owners, real BBQ’ers, fire makers…… order one!
