Additions to stuff I like from Costco
Frozen Mango
This is great stuff if you are into smoothies and trying to get enough protein in your diet (you should be). If you like them cold, some almond milk as the fluid, a bit of ice and chocolate protein powder (below) and 8 or so mango chunks in the Nutribullet and you get what has the consistency and taste of a decent chocolate shake!
Frozen Blueberries
They are blueberries and they are frozen. Not much more to say other than they are great on the Kirkland 0% Greek Yogurt.
Kirkland 0% Greek Yogurt
Great stuff to put frozen blueberries on…..circular reference!.
Chocolate Protein Powder
I go through a lot of protein powder. (target protein intake of 1g per lb of body weight per day). I have tried tons of brands and flavors. I can save you the trouble of trying every chocolate and peanut butter flavored version known to man. The unicorn does not exist. I am down to this chocolate one from Costco. Its good. A scoop mixed with a bowl of the above Greek yogurt with above mentioned frozen blueberries…..and a sprinkle of the below….very damn good.
Almond Granola
I’m going to say this seriously. If I were on a deserted island and I could eat only one carbohydrate or crunchy food….this would be it. I don’t know what they put in this but it is SERIOUSLY a problem food. Warning the first time you dump a handful in your mouth hole…..be careful. The flakes are so crunchy, I actually cut my gums because of an oddly positioned flake on initial chomp down (dismay only eclipsed by hot pizza palate burn). I find it hard to walk by the pantry without grabbing some of it.
More Mango
Speaking of Mango and addiction, this stuff should also be kept in a place that is hard to reach.
Not to be confused with this one. Has the texture of dried shoe leather (IMO) Probably healthier and less addictive but not near as pleasing. The packaging alone by comparison is probably a clue to be considered.
Easy Dill Salad
This is a regular to have in the fridge for emergency dinner prep. This augmented with more veg and some meat (Chicken or Beef) makes for a fast and satisfying dinner. Pro tip…..look at the best before date on the top right corner of the bag. Then reach deep beyond the packages at the front of the isle to the back boxes and you will smugly walk to your cart with one that has a date that is 3 or 4 days further out than the ones they want you to take! Like a mini lottery win (sad I know) Note these are a two pack. One pack feeds 2-3 people as a side dish, or 1 person (me) if left on the counter after the first serving.
That’s all for now.
Oh, one other thing. For a wildly interesting history of Costco as a business check out this podcast. I go more frequently and bought more stock after listening to it twice. It’s 3 hours long but captivating. The Acquired Podcast on Costco (Stock is up 100% since publish)
