Oh it has been a while since I posted something. The din from millions of followers has been deafening.
On to the topic…..I was recently contemplating the amount of noise my entry entry entry level Logitech keyboard was making while on calls….also dismayed by the amount of schmeg that fell out of it when I turned it over….and thought….maybe its time for an upgrade.
My boys have both moved to those crazy retro IBM Selectric mechanical style keyboards that sound like a herd of hard shell crabs are running across their desks….not what I was looking for. (Did you know a group of crabs is called a consortium?)
I first tried the cheapest low profile wireless one I could find on Amazon. Even that was an improvement.
Have to say, for $40 it was prettay,,,,prettayyy,,,,pretttay good. It did feel a tad cheap but the key feel and sound was nice. But then an opinionated friend said he had gone with a Logitech MXKeys unit. Ouch, 3x the price. Ordered one. Side by side, no comparison. The feel of this thing is really really nice, it has a backlight and is super heavy and solid feeling because the entire thing is cut out of solid steel. Very happy with it….and less cracks to accumulate “stuff”. Typing on it makes what I am writing seem better and more important for some reason. :-)
I figured I should upgrade the tired companion mouse to that crappy Logitech keyboard….and went with a mid level Logitech M720 that I am also very happy with. It will connect bluetooth when I am just on my laptop, or toggle to the unified logitech receiver that covers both the keyboard and mouse on one USB port. Also has a number of hotkeys on it so if you squeeze the sides or other gestures you can program what it should do.
Net of it is….if you have been using one of the basic wireless keyboard and mouse combos….there is better out there and when you spend all day using these things there is no reason not to upgrade.
Like upgrading from a Bic to a MontBlanc! Personally I am a Microsoft Sculpt girl and can never go back to a flat keyboard or regular mouse.
